48th ANNUAL COLGATE WOMEN’S GAMES

Preliminary meets and Semi-Finals will be held at Queens College, Track and Soccer Field, Queens, NY. Finals will be held at Icahn Stadium, Randall’s Island, Manhattan, NY. All participants are invited to compete in the preliminary meets. Point-scorers from the preliminaries are eligible to compete in the semi-finals to earn a spot in the finals.  Participation is free – there is no entry fee to participate and no admission charge to attend.  Colgate-Palmolive Company covers all costs.

Prizes will be awarded for places 1 through 8 in each preliminary meet, the semi-finals, and finals. Educational scholarships will be awarded for each divisional event to the top three competitors who earn the greatest number of points for all meets combined. Competitors may compete in any two events in the preliminaries, but in only one of these events in the semi-finals and finals. Competitors are encouraged to participate in all preliminary meets to accumulate the most points towards an educational scholarship.  Every competitor receives a complimentary competitor’s t-shirt, an athletic bag with Colgate health and hygiene products, and a commemorative ribbon for participation.

All school-age participants must be enrolled and attending school. Records may be required upon request. All finalists will be required to submit an essay of 150 words or less to the Meet Director to be eligible for an educational scholarship.

1. Competition in the Elementary A and B, Mid-School, and High School Division is open to girls in grades 1 to 12. The College/Open Division is open to female college students and non-students under 30. The 30’s Plus Division is open to women 30 years of age and over.

3. There are two preliminary meets, a semi-finals, and the finals. All competitors are eligible and encouraged to participate in both preliminary meets to accumulate the most points possible to advance to the semi-finals and qualify for the finals.

4. A competitor may enter any two events in each of the preliminary meets. Points scored in one event may not be totaled with points scored in another. However, a competitor may only compete in one event – the same one – in the semi-finals and finals. Thus, if a competitor scores points to qualify for the semi-finals in each event she enters, she must choose only one in which to compete in the semi-finals and finals.

5. Elementary A competitors (enrolled in 1st through 3rd grades) may only compete in that division for four years.

6. Elementary B competitors (enrolled in 4th through 5th grades) may only compete in that division for three years.

7. Mid-School competitors (enrolled in 6th through 8th grades) may only compete in that division for four years.

8. High School competitors (enrolled in 8th through 12th grades) may only compete in that division for five years.

9. All other competitors who are not attending school in the 1st through 12th grades as listed above, irrespective of age or school affiliation, must compete in the College/Open or 30’s Plus Division.

10. Through the preliminary meets, points are to be scored for places 1 through 12 in each event as follows:

For running events, point-scorers will be decided on a timed basis after all sections have been run.

11. All point-scorers in each event at the end of the preliminary meets will be eligible to compete in their respective event in the semi-finals and must submit a Declaration Form. Points are to be scored for places 1 through 8 in each event in the semi-finals as follows:

12. A Declaration Form will declare a point-scorer’s intent to compete in the semi-finals and must be submitted at the conclusion of the preliminary meets. Forms will be available at the meet at that time. Once submitted, all declarations are final.

13. After the semi-finals, the top eight point-scorers in each event will be eligible to compete in the finals.

14. Points are to be scored for places 1 through 8 in each event in the finals as follows:

After the final meet, points scored by a competitor in a single event in the Colgate Women’s Games will be totaled (i.e., points scored in the event by the competitor in all preliminary meets, the semi-finals, and the finals will be added together). The competitor who has the greatest total score in any one event (the most points earned in the event in the preliminaries, semi-finals, and finals), will receive an educational scholarship of $2,000. The competitor with the second-most points in each event in each division will receive an educational scholarship of $1,000 and the third-most points in each event in each division will receive an educational scholarship of $500. The funds will be given by Colgate-Palmolive Company to an institution of learning for the academic, vocational, or professional education of each winner. The institution will be designated by the recipient. The scholarship is not transferable by the recipient and may be used only for her individual education, except for Open and 30+ recipients.

16. In case of a points tie at the finals, the higher trophy will be awarded to the athlete with the better performance at the finals.

17. All decisions regarding eligibility and awards will be made by the Meet Director, Ms. Toussaint.

18. Any competitor found competing in the wrong school division shall be disqualified from the competition at any stage in the competition that such infraction is determined.

19. If a competitor proceeds through the finals of the competition and it is subsequently determined that she has competed in the wrong school division, all prizes, scholarships, and awards are automatically revoked.

20. Prizes will be awarded for places 1 through 8 in the preliminary meets, semi-finals, and finals.

21. All protests must be in writing and handed to Meet Director and Referee, Ms. Toussaint within 30 minutes after the event in question has concluded.

22. Judges’ decisions are final.

ACCEPTABLE FOOTWEAR:

Running flats, sneakers and ¼” spike shoes may be worn during competition.

By entering into the following events in the Annual Colgate Women’s Games and in consideration of your acceptance of the submitted entry I warrant that (1) I have been examined by a physician and have been given permission to compete in competitive athletics and (2) I am physically sound to compete. I hereby, for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators and assignees, waive any and all claims which I may have against Colgate-Palmolive Company, Queens College, Icahn Stadium, or any of these entities’ owners, partners, or sponsors arising out of or in connection with my participation or attendance at said meets. I hereby authorize Colgate-Palmolive Company and those authorized by Colgate-Palmolive Company to use and reproduce my picture(s), photograph(s), likeness(es), image(s), voice, persona and name worldwide in all forms and media for all uses, non-commercial, and commercial (such as publicity and advertising), without limit as to time or frequency and to quote me in such use. I hereby waive (1) any right to inspect or approve such use or reproduction, (2) any right to compensation for such use or reproduction, (3) any claim to any intangible rights, including without limitation, the right of publicity or copyright that I may hold in any tangible medium of expression incorporating any image created by Colgate-Palmolive Company and (4) any and all claims which I may have arising out of or in connection with such use or reproduction.
